
The City of Mckinney Swim School
The City of McKinney Swim School offers a program suited for all ages. We are committed to providing swim lessons that build confidence and teach water safety skills in a safe environment for you and your child with quality instruction. Each session meets 8 times. Please refer to the current Activity Guide for class times and locations.

Class Descriptions

Parent and Child 100
|
Parent and Child 100 is meant for parents to safely guide and introduce their child ages 6 months to 3 years to fundamental water skills. This class focuses on pool safety, proper holds, and educational games and songs.

Swim 101
|
Swim 101 is designed for children ages 3-5 and is meant to be without parents. It focuses on the fundamentals of floating, breath control, and swimming on the front and back along with proper water entry and exit instruction.

Swim 102
|

Swim 102 is designed for children ages 5-12 and focuses on building swimming independence on the back crawl and front crawl, with an emphasis on basic rotary breathing.

swim 103
|
Swim 103 is designed for children ages 6-12 that can swim back crawl and front crawl with basic rotary breathing a distance of 15 yards. This class focuses on an introduction to endurance training and body movement for future strokes such as Breaststroke and Butterfly

Swim 104
|
Swim 104 is designed for children ages 6-12 that can swim backstroke and front crawl a distance of 25 yards. This class focuses on an increase of endurance with previous strokes and an introduction to breaststroke, butterfly, and basic turns.

Swim 105
|
Swim 105 is designed for children ages 8-14 that can swim backstroke, front crawl and breaststroke a distance of 50 yards. This class focuses on stroke proficiency and endurance training with at least 300 yards swam each class.

Adult Swim
|
For individuals ages 13 and older who would like to learn and/or improve upon their current swimming skills. Participants will learn and/or refine the following skills: rhythmic breathing, front stroke, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke. Students will be evaluated on the first day of the class and divided into separate groups, according to their skill level.

Aquatic Survivor
|
Develop necessary skills to be comfortable out, in and around the water. Basic swimming and water safety skills are introduced along with refinement of your current swimming abilities.

Adult Swim Conditioning
|
For individuals 13 and older. Participants are coached and introduced to swimming conditioning workouts containing a balance between different strokes including front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, and for the more advanced swimmers, the butterfly

Lifeguarding
|
Are you 15 or older and looking for a great summer job or a challenging career? American Red Cross Lifeguarding is the best place to start! Lifeguarding puts you in an exciting position, working as part of a team to help people safely enjoy the water. You could save a life too! The American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course makes learning fun and easy. Class has prerequisites.
