The Office of Environmental Stewardship sponsors McKinney's Texas Trash-Off every year. This event is the single largest one-day cleanup event in the state. It serves as Texas’ signature event for the Great American Cleanup – the nation's largest community improvement program – held annually from March 1 through May 31.

.
McKinney's 2012 Trash-Off is set for Saturday, April 14. Teams will start at 8:30 a.m. when participants arrive for check in. At 11 a.m. teams and staff will head back to Old Setter's Park for a final count of full bags and a lunch which begins at 11:30 a.m. .
